Sergej Milinkovic-Savic: 'I'm focused on Lazio'

Manchester United are reportedly set to make a huge transfer offer for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this week.

Manchester United backed out of negotiations for Milinkovic-Savic after learning about Lazio's financial demands earlier in the summer but with Paul Pogba's future under renewed focus, there is talk the club could revisit the case this week.

Paul Pogba has been linked with a move to Barcelona - but who could replace him at Man Utd? Manager Jose Mourinho has been left frustrated with the lack of signings and is desperate to add more players to his roster before the transfer window closes.

Milan have just signed Gonzalo Higuain from Juve in a major show of ambition, and Milinkovic-Savic would be another statement purchase after establishing himself as one of the finest midfielders in Europe at the Stadio Olimpico.

Premier League duo Manchester United and Chelsea, as well as Real Madrid, have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old, with Lazio president Claudio Lotito stating that he is willing to sell the midfielder.

He said: "I would [build the team around him]". He made his Serbia debut in 2017 and represented his nation at this summer's World Cup in Russian Federation.

Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for the Serbia worldwide throughout the summer window, but it now seems as though the Red Devils could be set to make a fresh move to try and land him this week.

According to CalcioMercato, Milinkovic-Savic's agents would like to see the midfielder playing for a more competitive side than Lazio after the club missed out on Champions League qualification in 2017/18, but are waiting for an acceptable offer to arrive from a top club.
