God of War's New Game Plus Mode Coming This Month

An update due to arrive on August 20 will bring a New Game Plus mode to God of War.

In order to access New Game+ in God of War, you'll need to complete the story campaign on any difficulty. The mode comes with a new resource, "Skap Slag" - which Google Translate tells me means "Cabinet Battle" in Norwegian, that can be used to craft gear and weapons from a new rarity tier. You'll be able to skip cutscenes in this mode as well, and in fact, anyone will be able to bypass them in any game mode as long as they've completed the game at least once.

More specifically, the update holding New Game Plus will launch on August 20. It's not entirely clear whether that means that we'll see new enemies on top of old ones, but the team did suggest that numerous game's old enemies will be packing some "new tricks up their sleeves".

Kaufman also promises that as well as being harder to take down, some of the bigger enemies will also have some new tricks up their blood-stained sleeves.

As posted over on the PlayStation Blog, New Game Plus lets Kratos and Atreus keep their previous armors, enchantments, talismans, resources, and abilities. "Play the game in a whole new way by exploring new customization options with extremely powerful new armour sets and enchantments".

God of War is now available on PS4.

Also new to God of War is the ability to skip cinematics, which will presumably come in handy for all the speedrunners out there.
