Cam Newton confronts Kelvin Benjamin over remarks

Here are three takeaways from the Carolina Panthers bout against the Buffalo Bills.

Last week, Bills wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin blamed his struggles with the Carolina Panthers on not being able to play with an "accurate" quarterback "with knowledge." At mid-field prior to the start of the contest, Newton approached Benjamin while he was speaking with former teammates and coaches.

The conversation continued until Benjamin said something to Newton that had Newton gesturing that he was finished with him.

"I just think Carolina was bad for me", Benjamin told The Athletic.

It was a fortuitous matchup in the preseason opener after the wideout in the same interview this week called the Panthers, his former team, "a bad fit from the get-go". At one point, Newton motioned to Davis to leave before Newton, with his hands folded behind his back, followed Benjamin around the field. "I wasn't even trying to listen". Charlotte NBC News anchor Nick Carboni posted Benjamin's ripping of Newton on Twitter. Benjamin answered questions about the exchange by saying he was "moving on", although when asked what Newton said to him, Benjamin responded, "I don't know".

Benjamin eventually requested a trade and landed in Buffalo in the middle of last season for draft picks.
