Bills' AJ McCarron didn't fracture collarbone, expected to return to practice soon

The quarterback rotation as of now will be Josh Allen starting, with Nathan Peterman second out of the gate.

Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen will start Sunday's preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the team announced Monday.

The Buffalo Bills' starting quarterback competition is a little up in the air at this point.

The Buffalo News reported the nature of the injury late Friday night, citing a "source close to McCarron".

AJ McCarron will have his shoulder injury re-evaluated. The team has yet to name a starter for its regular-season opener against the Baltimore Ravens.

"Like always, [general manager Brandon Beane] is always looking at our situation and what we may need to do for not only the long term, but the short term in this case", head coach Sean McDermott said Monday.

McCarron appeared to suffer the injury while getting hit by Myles Garrett.

With McCarron sidelined until future notice, ESPN reports the Bills are considering adding another quarterback to the roster.

Allen, the seventh overall pick in this year's draft, completed nine of 13 passes for 60 yards and a touchdown against the Cleveland Browns in preseason action on Friday. Peterman closed out the game and went 8-of-10 for 113 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions.
