Sony Xperia XA2 Plus announced with high-end features at a mid-range price

The new Xperia XA2 Plus will join the Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra in Sony's mid-range line-up, both of which arrived earlier this year. The specifications of the two smartphones are very similar, but the XA2 Plus has its own design language using a diamond cut manufacturing process that sets it apart from the XA2 Ultra, and indeed most of its direct competition.

Unfortunately, Sony hasn't shared any pricing for the XA2 Plus just yet. The 6-inch Full HD+ screen, coated in Corning Gorilla Glass 5, is the first in the line with an 18:9 aspect ratio, resulting in slightly slimmer bezels with no notch. "Xperia XA2 Plus further improves on that with a reimagined 18:9 display, Sony's Hi-Res Audio and powerful camera technology, to offer a unique content consumption and creation device for consumers at this section of the market". However, the phone will most likely be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, being paired with possibly 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage.

The Sony Xperia XA2 Plus will be available from late August 2018 in silver, black, gold or green. The device runs Android Oreo out-of-the-box operating system.

Xperia XA2 Plus gets a single 23MP rear camera, that comes with Hybrid autofocus, an 84-degree widee-angle camera, as well as 4K video recording capabilities. The smartphone also has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. On the front, there's an 8MP selfie camera with 120-degree wide-angle sensor and f/2.4 aperture lens. There is Quick Charge 3.0 and Sony's Qnovo Adaptive Charging technology. Connecitivity options on this phone include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and USB Type-C.
