‘Sharif, Maryam will be arrested on their arrival’

‘Sharif, Maryam will be arrested on their arrival’

While they will not face any difficulty in coming to Pakistan, they are expected to be arrested during the immigration process at the airport as per standard procedure for all those placed on the ECL, Geo TV reported. Sharif's 44-year-old daughter and co-accused Maryam was given seven years for abetment, and one year for non-cooperation with the NAB - also to run concurrently.

Speaking to reporters in London, the three-time prime minister said that he and his daughter would land in Lahore and decide their future strategy once they arrive in Pakistan.

On the other hand, PML-N information Secretary Mushahidullah Khan told Express News the duo has chose to offer arrest to NAB without any resistance.

"After continued raids of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) at his houses in Abbotabad, Mansehra and Haripur, Captain Safdar chose to surrender before NAB", NAB said.

In the meantime, he announced through a video message sent to the PML-N workers that he had made a decision to surrender outside the election office of a party candidate in front of Gordon College in Rawalpindi.

NAB stated that it carried out raids at Captain (retd) Safdar's residences in Abbottabad, Haripur and Mansehra. The officers were then told that the ex-MNA would surrender at Committee Chowk.

Safdar, who was in Pakistan, was arrested by officials of the anti-graft agency on Sunday.

Upon being asked about her playing Benazir Bhutto's (BB) role, Maryam responded that she had the upmost respect for her and her struggle, but she is Maryam Nawaz, an independent identity, thus should not be compared to BB. The NAB said in a statement that Safdar handed himself in. Union council vice chairman Maqbool Ahmed of the PML-N and a few other workers received injuries during the pushing and shoving. As the rally ended at the election office of Hanif Abbasi, the NAB team finally arrested him.

The PML-N president said that if elected he would build dams and fix water issue. The party planned the rally a day earlier but did not disclose that Mr Safdar would join it, he said. PML-N United Kingdom has accused protesters belonged to a rival political party.

The objective of this contact will be to renew their appeal to the people to "respect the vote, vote for service".

"So far we have not been successful but his homes are being monitored", a NAB official said.

A group of alleged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) UK chapter members attempted to break in.

Maryam last evening shared her flight details to return to Pakistan with media persons.
