Sadiq arrives for Rangers

The deal, subject to global clearance, makes the Mali worldwide Steven Gerrard's eighth signing for the Gers, ahead of his first managerial stint.

Super Eagles star Sadiq Umar has finalized his season loan deal to Scottish club, Glasgow Rangers from Italian side, AS Roma.

Rangers have completed the season-long loan signing of Mali worldwide Lassana Coulibaly from French side Angers.

The 21-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at NAC Breda in the Eredivisie, in which he netted five goals.

Talking to Rangers TV, the midfielder said he was anxious he was the victim of a prank call when Gerrard phoned him to discuss a move to Rangers.

But the 21-year-old Nigerian and Malian global Coulibaly are both expected to be signed in time to be available for inclusion in the UEFA-registered Rangers squad for the meeting with the Macedonians.

"I am very happy to be here", Coulibaly told Rangers TV.

"At the moment he is still a Roma player but it has been well documented that I am a fan, but it's just a case of watch this space", he said.

"Rangers is a good team, I'd heard the name before Gerrard came in here".

"When my agent said that Gerrard is the head coach, I said, OK, no problem, and then I was happy to come and join this team".

Gerrard remains in the market for further reinforcements this summer and a move for Mali worldwide midfielder Lassana Coulibaly is still ongoing at present.

"He (Gerrard) can help me to develop my football".

He must now turn his attention to Thursday's Europa League qualifying match against Macedonian team FK Shkupi.

He follows the signings of centre-backs Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic, right-back Jon Flanagan, wingers Jamie Murphy and Scott Arfield, goalkeeper Allan McGregor and midfielder Ovie Ejaria (loan).
