NVIDIA has a million new generation of graphics cards

This news comes right around the time when it's being reported that graphics card demand is falling.

According to a report from DigiTimes, NVIDIA has stockpiled about a million GPUs that are yet to be released. Due to the fall in cryptocurrency prices and a large increase in mining difficulty, mining growth has ground to a near halt.

Reports from several quarters indicate that the GPU launching in the third quarter is likely to go ahead as planned in spite of the news that its existing gen cards are more than the demand and have thus flooded the market.

According to sources in the supply chain, this lower demand means graphics card prices are expected to drop by as much as 20 percent in July, bringing prices to figures that resemble the original manufacturer's suggested retail price.

Many cards have been available at, or sometimes even below, the MSRP as a result. There has also been a decline in the demand for mining-oriented ASIC systems.

For those looking forward to new hardware launches this year, both NVIDIA and AMD have been sending out press invites for upcoming events. These two new series of graphics cards makes it more likely that the older Graphics cards will see a good price drop soon this month especially when Nvidia has hundreds of thousands of graphics cards in stock that are yet to be sold in the market. These next-gen cards will be made using TSMC's 12nm and 7nm processors.
