Novichok victim was 'a gentle soul', says family

The move comes a day after police opened a murder investigation into the death of Dawn Sturgess, who died from exposure to a Russian-made Novichok nerve agent. Rowley is in critical condition.

At the weekend, his girlfriend Dawn Sturgess, 44, tragically died after also being poisoned.

Couple remains in critical condition after being poisoned by the same nerve agent as an ex-Russian spy.

It was unclear if Williamson was referring to the attack on the Skripals or a new attack. "Charlie is still very unwell and will continue to require specialist, round-the-clock care here at Salisbury District Hospital", the statement said.

"Dawn will always be remembered by us as a gentle soul who was generous to a fault", the family wrote.

The Sturgess family added: "Our thoughts and prayers also go out to Charlie and his family and we wish Charlie a speedy recovery".

Wiltshire Police said last night the vehicle was removed from an address in the town some 40 miles from Salisbury where a former Russian spy and his daughter were first poisoned with Novichok.

A dose of the nerve agent hunted by police in the Salisbury and Amesbury areas could be active for up to 50 years, police have said.

NO traces of nerve agent have been found on a bus used by Dawn Sturgess and Charlie Rowley.

However officials have said there is no evidence the pair visited any of the sites in Salisbury which were decontaminated after the attack on the Skripals.

Central to the investigation is John Baker House, the supported-living accommodation where Ms Sturgess lived; Mr Rowley's home in Amesbury, and Salisbury's Queen Elizabeth Gardens, which remains cordoned off.

Sally Davies, Britan's chief medical adviser, also said the threat to the public is low but reinforced warnings to residents of Salisbury and Amesbury against touching stray containers, syringes, needles, cosmetics or similar objects.

"This is particularly important as families are starting to prepare for their children's summer holidays and so I am asking that people are extra vigilant".
