Man City Sign African Star For £60m

Wantaway Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez finally looks set for his dream move to Manchester City.

The Algeria worldwide had his medical at City's training base today.

Mahrez was the subject of four failed bids from Manchester City in the mid-season transfer window and, after a move to the Etihad did not materialise he missed training for over a week, with the Algeria global forced to deny going AWOL.

The 27-year-old has been a long-term target for City, and moves to the Premier League champions on a five-year-deal for a fee believed to be in the region of £60m.

Riyad leaves with the best wishes of everybody who has worked with him at Leicester City Football Club.

'Watching them from afar has been a pleasure.

Director of Football Txiki Begiristain added: "Riyad is a hugely talented player".

"I am so pleased to have joined City, a side playing great football under Pep Guardiola", Mahrez said in a club statement.

'Over the past few years, he has established himself as one of the Premier League's most exciting players.

The Football Club would like to place on record its honest thanks to Riyad for his major contribution to an incredible period of success since his arrival from French side Le Havre in January 2014. "We're sure he will bring additional attacking quality to our squad". He was part of the teams that lifted the Championship title in 2014, Premier League title in 2016 and helped the Foxes reach the UEFA Champions League Quarter-Finals in 2017.

Mahrez's introduction in the attacking areas will allow City to rotate further as they attempt to go further in the Champions League and become the first club in a decade to defend the title.

Interestingly, the Algerian was back in Leicester's good books as he netted four more goals for the Foxes, taking his total goals to 39 goals from 139 top flight games for the King Power dwellers.
