Loris Karius: Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp defends keeper after mistake in friendly

The German shot-stopper suffered another shocking mistake during Liverpool's pre-season game against Tranmere Rovers last night.

It was another bad mistake that seems to suggest Karius is struggling to throw off the psychological scarring he sustained against Real Madrid in the Champions League final at the end of last season.

In the second half, Karius was introduced and was beaten twice as the hosts battled back into the game with the 25-year-old at fault for the first of their goals.

'It's obvious, we don't have to hide it, yes, he could have made that save.

"But no-one likes that in these situations".

Karius also made a highly publicised error in the warm-up to the game against Chester at the weekend.

But hopes of landing Roma's Alisson Becker have so far been dashed by the Serie A giant's high valuation of the Brazil worldwide.

Liverpool are understood to be tracking a number of goalkeepers.

Karius, though, is the man in the spotlight, and given the high-profile nature of his errors in Kiev, that will remain the case for some time yet - something Klopp is well aware of.

'Loris conceded that goal, but we can not create a story after every mistake.

"We can not change that". That you [the media] do what you do, we have to deal with it.

"Two brilliant footballers make this mistake, but we don't talk about it". "I would say the second one but we don't talk about that".

Liverpool had led 3-0 at half-time after goals from Rafael Camacho, Sheyi Ojo and Adam Lallana, before Jonny Smith and Amadou Soukouna hit back for Tranmere.
