England V. Croatia, Winner Will Play France

England have failed to reach a final on foreign soil in all 30 attempts, falling short in 17 World Cups and 13 European Championships (including when they did not qualify for the tournament).

Croatia will play for World Cup supremacy for the first time ever, while England fans in Penticton will watch their team play Belgium for third place on Saturday, beginning at 7 a.m. local time.

The highest-placed team beaten by Gareth Southgate's side in the tournament are Tunisia, who are number 14 in the Federation Internationale de Football Association rankings.

Disappointment went hand-in-hand with pride as the English media showered Gareth Southgate and his players with praise and sympathy on Thursday after their surprise World Cup run came to an agonising end at the semifinal stage against Croatia in Moscow.

Prime Minister Theresa May said: "Wasn't to be this time but it's been a great journey that's made the country proud".

But emotions were to change, and fans in Bristol held their heads in their hands and wept following England's defeat.

England lost much of their first-half momentum after the break. Look at the fans tonight, there was a lump in my throat watching the fans applaud us at the end.

Josh Quinn, 22, from Bristol, said: "It was a disappointing performance from England. That makes me proud". "Everyone is born with it, we have good players, and I believe they will bring the cup home, but we'll see on Monday morning at 3 o'clock".

"We went through a lot of s**t", he said.

Penticton's new British pub, Brexit, was a full house with footy fans for Wednesday's World Cup semi-final between England and Croatia.

"Semi-finals, they've done what they had to do, they took us to the semi-finals". You give everything you have, build friendships with your team, give everything for your country and play in a way that you hope connects with the fans. It's a disgusting way to go out of the World Cup.

Youth development: Croatian players' children took to the field after their semi-final win.

"For us as a team, it's another chance to create a small piece of history".

He said: "I think it's our year this time".
