Adult film star Stormy Daniels arrested in Ohio strip club "setup"- lawyer

Adult film star Stormy Daniels arrested in Ohio strip club

A spokesperson for the Franklin County Sheriff's Department told CBS as of early Thursday morning, Daniels was not being held there. In May, Trump said Daniels was paid to stop "false and extortionist accusations" she made about a sexual encounter with him.

The porn star's lawyer said the arrest "reeks of desperation", and said Daniels was performing the same routine she had done "at almost a hundred strip clubs" throughout the country.

Avenatti said Daniels was arrested during a sting operation.

'We will fight all bogus charges'. A person who answered the phone at the club declined to comment.

"This was a setup & politically motivated". He wrote that she was expected to be charged with a misdemeanor "for allowing 'touching'".

The AP reports that a Columbus police spokeswoman didn't immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

The law, The Community Defense Act, prohibits adult entertainment - defined as nude or topless dancing - between midnight and 6am.

Daniels planned to be in Columbus Wednesday and Thursday as part of a nationwide tour, Avenatti said.

Daniels was scheduled to appear at the Sirens strip club on Wednesday and Thursday nights, the club's website says. But according to a Columbus Dispatch article published in September, 2017, the law has rarely been used. The porn star, who allegedly had an affair with President Donald Trump in 2006 while he was married to Melania Trump, was reportedly taken into custody for behaving inappropriately while on stage. She is suing Trump and his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, to void a hush agreement she says she signed during the 2016 presidential campaign.
