The top-of-the-line Nex S embeds the fingerprint sensor in the screen itself, allowing users to unlock the phone by pressing a finger on the screen. Other local manufacturers like Xiaomi and Huawei are also using the in-display fingerprint scanning technology on their latest high-end devices, but we are yet to see it present on a widely-available device, even moreso on one that could be bought in the U.S. of A. To talk about the identical features of the Vivo NEX and NEX Ultimate, we will be referring them as Vivo NEX in the rest of the article. With the notch-free Ultra FullView™ Display, NEX fulfills the bezel-less dream and features an industry-leading 91.24% screen-to-body ratio, thanks to multiple industry-first technologies.

There's no beating around the bush, the elevating camera is the Vivo NEX's selling factor. Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on the Vivo NEX, while Vivo's Funtouch OS 4.0 is included on top of Google's operating system. At the front there is a retractable 8MP front camera. We can consider this as a truly bezel-less device because of the very small bezels. The company has also added an in-display fingerprint sensor to the NEX S but NEX A comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Vivo NEX also features its own AI-powered smart assistant called Jovi.

The phone sports a massive 6.59-inch FHD+ OLED Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2316*1080 pixels and aspect ratio of 19.3:9. NEX demonstrates Vivo's determination to test the limits and break industry conventions.

For photography, there is a 12MP + 5MP dual camera setup at the rear with sensor aperture rate of f/1.8 and f/2.4, respectively. Vivo continues to pursue the ultimate AI photography technologies with AI Scene Recognition, AI HDR, AI Filters and AI Photo Composition. There's no notch or thick bezel along the top of the phone to house the selfie camera and other technology, such as the earpiece, with the company including three new pieces of tech instead.

The Vivo NEX comes with a 4,000mAh battery which is not removable, and that battery quite probably supports Quick Charge 3.0 or 4+ fast charging by Qualcomm, even though Vivo did not mention it in its press release. The handset includes a dedicated button for activating Jovi Intelligent Voice Assistant.

The Vivo NEX has been on the headlines since it was teased at MWC earlier this year. It is optimised to run games made using Unreal Engine. The NEX S with 128 GB storage is priced at 4498 yuan ($702 / Rs. 47,375 approx.), 256GB version will cost 4998 yuan ($780 / Rs. 52,640 approx.) and NEX A will cost 3898 yuan (US$ 608 / Rs. 41,055 approx.).
