Southgate wants England players to entertain nation´s fans

Hopefully this won't be the last place we see the Three Lions at this World Cup.

"The aim is to be aggressive and fearless".

He added that in a big tournament like World Cup, it is more about being patient and taking on one game at a time.

"There was a clear shift in the identity of the team, we went to a back three and people have been warmed by that, not only the young players in this squad, but the young players in the system, the success with the junior teams".

Ever since England won the World Cup in 1966 and thus set unrealistically high expectations for every squad that proceeded them, the relationship between the media and the England team has grown increasingly toxic.

Kane, who will captain his country at the tournament, acknowledged that England have been "passive" and have focused too much on avoiding defeat in previous tournaments.

"Of course, if we do all of those things and we play with a smile on our face and we enjoy our football, enjoy being in a tournament, then I think we will get results".

It will be the first World Cup appearance for the Tottenham striker, and Kane said that he wants to improve his scoring record in the big tournaments. First and foremost we will run around and do that aspect of the game.

"It's different now. I think if you asked every single player what the difference is now they would say that we are prepared as a team for every scenario".

"It's the one competition that everybody dreams of winning".

"I'm confident it won't happen - I won't say 100 per cent because you never know in football - but in this team we wear our heart on our sleeve". They will play their opening game against Tunisia on June 18.
