The immigrants are mostly teenage boys and housed in tent-like structures. He said he played soccer with some of the children.

He emphasised that his government's first duty and highest loyalty was towards the citizens of the United States, towards ensuring safety in the country and along the borders.

A US Customs and Border Patrol spokesperson said the bus carried "family groups" being transferred into the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. They believed Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen when they falsely claimed that they had no choice but to enforce an existing law.

The White House meanwhile hit back at critics of its policy, emboldened by the misreading of a Time magazine cover showing President Trump towering over crying child.

"We weren't lucky enough to be separated for five days or 10 days; we're separated permanently", said Laura Wilkerson, whose son Josh was killed in 2010.

Bill O'Reilly, former Fox News host of "The O'Reilly Factor" and possibly and unlikely hero of immigrant families, according to reports. "That is not what we stand for".

He alleged that it is the stories of these families that the Opposition Democrats and people that are "weak on immigration" don't want to discuss.

Outside a Border Patrol processing facility in McAllen, Texas, protesters carrying American flags temporarily blocked a bus carrying immigrants and shouted "Shame!"

The proposed expansion comes days after a public outcry moved the administration to cease the practice of separating children from their migrant parents on the border.

Now, under the new executive order, families are to be kept together in ICE facilities even while parents are facing prosecution. Parents were jailed and their children were taken to government-contracted shelters.

Hundreds of people rallied near a Homestead, Florida, facility where immigrant children are being held.

Rep. Darren Soto said the decision by the facility's administrators to deny Nelson and Wasserman Schultz access earlier made him wonder what they were hiding. Wilson said the balloons were to show the children that the American people care about them. Information will be collected and sent to HHS funded facility where minor is located.

"Where is the condemnation of the Democrats sanctuary cities that release violent criminals into our communities and then protect them, like the mayor of San Diego, when she warned everybody that "ICE is coming", and they scattered", he asked.

Demonstrators led rallies and protests Saturday to decry the separation of immigrant parents from their children by USA border authorities, while Democratic lawmakers said they aren't convinced the Trump administration has any real plan to reunite them.

They described seeing children sleeping behind bars, on concrete floors and under emergency "mylar" heat-resistant blankets.

California Congressman Jackie Speier says, "It is, for all intents and purposes, a prison".

In recent weeks, more than 2,300 children were taken from their families under a "zero-tolerance" policy in which people entering the USA illegally face prosecution. Parents and children were being detained separately.

US President Donald Trump is once again attacking immigrants.

The Democrats said they haven't seen a coherent system for reuniting parents and children. "If you're going to undo it, then you truly have to undo it by making sure that you match every child with every parent".

Protests and rallies focused around the separation of families at the U.S. -Mexico border are scheduled this weekend, while more than two dozen congressional Democrats plan to visit detention facilities in Texas.

"There are still thousands of children who are out there right now untethered to their parents and no coherent system to fix that", Rep. Joe Courtney, a Democrat from CT, told reporters after the tour.

The Democratic lawmakers plan to visit detention facilities Saturday in McAllen and Los Fresnos.
