Mbappe says injury not serious ahead of Socceroos clash

Kylian Mbappe has assured France fans he is "fine" after being forced to leave their first World Cup training session in Russian Federation after a blow to the ankle in a clash with team-mate Adil Rami.

The Paris Saint Germain youngster fell on the ground after a tackle by the Marseille defender and was holding his ankle before heading off for treatment.

There are no details thus far as to the extent of the injury, but the 19-year-old is expected to undergo tests after his early exit.

'I'm fine, it's just a hit so it does not matter but thank you for your posts, ' Mbappe wrote on Twitter.

The incident would have caused panic among France fans with the country's first game of the World Cup taking place on Saturday against Australia. PS: "And leave my friend Rami, it was not mean".

After that they will face Peru in Yekaterinburg on June 21 and Denmark in Moscow on June 26.

If Mbappe is unfit to compete in Russia, Deschamps will have until 24 hours before Les Bleus' opening fixture to replace him in his 23-man squad and could call on Alexandre Lacazette or Anthony Martial from his reserve list to step in.

Kylian Mbappe scored a late equalizer for France to offset a goal from Julian Green and deny an inexperienced USMNT side a win in Lyon.
