Masterbuilt Manufacturing chimes in on jabs at IHop name change

Most were left disappointed and confused when they announced the B would stand for BURGERS.

Do you like the name change? It's adding several burgers to its menu. "We are definitely going to be IHOP", Darren Rebelez, president of IHOP, told CNNMoney.

Hollis Johnson/Business InsiderIHOP changed its name to IHOb to promote its new burgers, including the Cowboy BBQ Burger.

The hints of a name change had spurred guesses on social media - and some disappointment Monday at what was revealed.

If you were looking for IHOP's Twitter account (as this reporter was), you'll find nothing but a ghostly image of the past, and you'll be redirected to the new IHOb account, as the company officially renamed itself Monday morning.

Sliced steak maker Steak-Umm and Burger King took different approaches.

On today's show, Doc, Kris and Martin talked about the best restaurant chain Twitter reactions to "IHOb", along with the not-so-great responses that were a bit too corporate.

"We have a big announcement", read the Phillies' tweet.

Rival restaurants are throwing lots of shade at IHOP for its temporary name change.

"This was always meant to be tongue in cheek for us", Rebelez said. Let's be truthful, the general public wasn't talking about IHOP, but now they are.

"Don't worry, Pancakers. We still love pancakes".

"If somebody were to make a branded search during this campaign, does Google know where the nearest IHOb is located or is Google still ranking for IHOP?". You have to wonder whether it's worth the risk, either of confusing people who really do think this is a permanent change in name and mission or of aliening customers who are turned off by the Internet-driven theatrics. According to reports, nearly 50 percent of the company's customers came in the morning.
