Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola denies Yaya Toure claims

And when you consider his 316 appearances, scoring 79 goals, you'd think he will be going down as as a true City legend.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has urged Barcelona fans to appreciate the achievements of Ernesto Valverde this season.

"He knows I'm not", insisted Guardiola when asked about Toure's previous claims the Spaniard "has problems with Africans".

When the subject was brought up, Guardiola was reserved in his assessment, telling This Is Premier League: "I would say we made the best year in the Premier League ever". I even started wondering to myself whether it was about my colour. "The quality of the human beings they are, how they connect with the rest of the staff, that is I would say the main secret, that counts a lot to me".

"I am not the first to talk about these differences in treatment". Maybe we Africans are not always treated by some in the same way as others. When you see the problems he (Pep) has often had with African players, everywhere he has been, I ask myself questions.

Toure, who barely featured as Manchester City won the Premier League title under Guardiola last season, hit out at the Catalan in an interview with France Football earlier this week. "He never told me face to face", he added.

"He's too intelligent to be caught".

"When the day comes that he picks a team featuring five Africans - and not naturalised Africans - I promise I will send him a cake!"

Toure played his final game for City late in the season against Brighton & Hove Albion and was given a tremendous send-off by the Etihad Stadium.
