Lottery Winner Picks Up Check In Emoji Wink Mask

Lottery Winner Picks Up Check In Emoji Wink Mask

Identified only as N. Gray, the woman received her $1 million (USD) giant check from Supreme Ventures Limited on June 5th at the Spanish Court Hotel in St. Andrew, Jamaica.

According to the Jamaica Star, Simone Clarke-Cooper, a representative of the company, noted that since Super Lotto started, winners have been wearing disguises to protect themselves. During the ceremony held by the lottery organization, she showed up to greet the press with her face covered in a bright yellow emoji mask and a wig.

"I am elated, because I was drowning in debt", she told Jamaican news site The Gleaner.

A Jamaican lottery victor went all out to make sure no distant cousins bothered her as she collected her multi-million dollar check.

"In other markets, they don't necessarily do it, but here I think they opt to do it to keep themselves safe".

When she spoke to reporters, Gray admitted it was her debt that made her start playing the lottery in January.

"This is genius", one wrote, describing her as a "smart woman".

Lottery winners are usually soft targets for robbers as they usually have their faces plastered everywhere due to the ludicrous amounts they end up winning.

Many on Twitter expressed their joy at the photos, which were retweeted and liked by thousands of users.

"I think Jamaican lottery victor N. Gray anonymously collecting her cheque in an emoji mask might be the best thing I've ever seen", tweeted Hanna. Now I've won, I want to clear my debt, invest, and I want to do some travelling.

She also plans to give back to her community.
