IHOP? IHOb? What's with the name change?

IHOP? IHOb? What's with the name change?

Last week, the International House of Pancakes announced it's flipping the "P" into a "B". A restaurant in Hollywood has already changed its sign, but in a news release, IHOb shared the name change is only "for the time being".

After keeping the internet on its toes for several weeks, IHOP officials have announced the company's name change to IHOb.

The news website says that they changed their name because they now "burger" just as well as they "pancake".

The change is actually to celebrate the restaurant's new line of burgers.

Step aside, pancakes, there's a new focus of the menu at IHOP.

Some people correctly predicted it would stand for burgers, but many others on Twitter and Facebook thought the B would stand for breakfast or bacon. According to a company statement, the name and logo change is only for the time being, indicating that the change may be nothing more than a temporary marketing ploy.

Social media was abuzz after the cryptic announcement, but what does the "b" stand for?

The former leader in much needed hangover food has made a decision to enter into the burger joint business.

IHOb has been mocked mercilessly for the name change, and the Phillies couldn't help but get in on the fun.

"The big opportunity for the IHOb brand is to develop our lunch and dinner business".

"We are definitely going to be IHOP", said Darren Rebelez, president of IHOP.

Though it remains to be seen if the new moniker is here to stay, several celebrities and other restaurants took to Twitter to share their hilarious reactions to the new name.

The company is part of Dine Brands Global, the same company that owns the Applebee's chain.
