France notched three points with a hard-fought victory over Australia on Saturday, and Peru has yet to earn a point after a 1-0 defeat to Denmark.

With a less than stellar performance against Australia, Didier Deschamps could make a few changes to his starting line-up on Thursday, with Olivier Giroud pushing for a start in attack.

Peru are competing in their first World Cup finals since 1982 and more than 40,000 Peruvians have travelled to Russian Federation to cheer them on.

France: Lloris, Pavard, Varane, Umtiti, Lucas, Pogba, Kante, Mbappe-Lottin, Griezmann, Matuidi, Giroud.

Peru captain Paolo Guerrero - who had initially been banned from the World Cup for a doping violation - was a substitute against Denmark, but could start in Yekaterinburg.

Manager Ricardo Gareca has some fine players at his disposal, and Peru boast attacking flair in abundance in the shape of Edison Flores, Andre Carrillo and talismanic striker Paolo Guerrero. But poor finishing kept Peru from taking any points, and La Blanquirroja will be forced to put up its best front against the French to attempt to fight back into contention for Group C. "We know where we want to go for the next match".

Paul Pogba's lobbed effort deflected off Australia full-back Aziz Behich after history was made with the World Cup's first video assistant referee-enabled goal.

'Even if we change the team completely now, if we play with the same attitude and the same intensity then we will have problems, ' Khedira told reporters.

France and Peru's only previous encounter was a friendly in April 1982. The South American side won 1-0 at the Parc des Princes.

Peru are winless in their last seven World Cup matches (D2, L5).

After consecutive defeats vs Mexico and South Africa in 2010, France are unbeaten in their last four group stage games in World Cup finals (W3 D1 L0). France scored from a penalty conversion from Antoine Griezmann and an own goal late in the game.
