Forza Horizon 4 Will Be Set In Britain, And Features Hovercrafts

Microsoft kept the gaming announcements coming at its Xbox E3 press conference where it announced a series of studio acquisitions meant to bolster the original gaming content emerging from the console maker. The racing studio will also bring its expertise to an unannounced open-world project.

Microsoft also announced that it has acquired State of Decay developer Undead Labs and Forza Horizon studio Playground Games.

The new studios will all be housed beneath the Microsoft Studios brand alongside a new venture called The Initiative led by former Crystal Dynamics head of studio Darrell Gallagher.

Mixer fans will also get some love with Forza Horizon 4, with integrated broadcasting and spectating features built into the game. "We've been given the freedom to explore, try new things and operate like an independent studio, with the backing from one of the biggest companies in the world to do something bold and different".

Forza Horizon 4 will be released on October 2nd, 2018, so we only have a few short months to wait before we can jump behind the wheels of these beautifully rendered vehicles.

Spencer said Xbox was looking for creative teams and investing in more great content, and this is a sure sign of it.

Polygon noted that Microsoft has a "checkered history of acquiring developers".
