Eid-El-Fitr: FG declares public holidays

However, as the holiday is expected to fall on a weekend this year, private sector workers may not receive any extra days off.

The lunar month of Shawwal will begin with Eid al-Fitr (Eid ul-Fitr), also known as the festival of breaking the fast.

A similar announcement was made yesterday by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources regarding public sector workers.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on Thursday evening in Karachi for Shawal moon sighting.

"Tomorrow's meeting will conclude if the first day of Eid is going to be on Friday or Saturday in the Sultanate", said Yousuf Al Rahbi, Assistant Director of Astronomy Affairs Department at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs.

Like millions of Muslims around the world, Indian devotees celebrate the month of Ramadan, the solemn period of reassessment by abstaining from eating, drinking, and other activities from dawn to dusk. Free parking in Dubai will be activated on 29 Ramadan (Thursday June 14) and applies until 3 Shawaal 1439H (Sunday June 17). They will resume work from Tuesday, June 19.
