Domino's to fill literal potholes to make takeout easier

They can dent your vehicle, burst your tires, cause serious injuries to cyclists-and (heaven forbid) cause irreparable damage to your pizza, says Domino's.

"We don't want to lose any great-tasting pizza in a pothole, running a wonderful meal".

"Potholes, cracks, and bumps in the road can cause irreversible damage to your pizza during the drive home from Domino's", Domino's website says. Fouracre encourages Michiganders to enter the fray by nominating their communities with pizza-ruining potholes. Towns that are selected by the company will receive funds to help fix roads "so pizzas make it home safely".

Domino's said it has previously helped towns in Texas, California, Georgia and DE fix their roads.

Domino's is on a mission to save your pizza.

"We don't want to lose any great-tasting pizza to a pothole, ruining a wonderful meal", Domino's United States of America president Russell Weiner said in a news release. It brands the fixed potholes with a Domino's logo and the tagline "Oh yes we did". The animal-rights group told the local paper at the time, "We think people would be upset to learn road repairs were a direct result of cruelty to chickens", to which then-mayor Pamela Torliatt responded that she would not participate in a "game of chicken over our pothole paving".

Fouracre declined to disclose specific grant details, but said they're "smaller", "not multi-million dollar" awards created to add on to pothole-fixing budgets. You will be notified personally if your town is nominated.
