Disgraced Australia opener David Warner set to return … in the commentary box

It was a brilliant performance by the Scots against an England team who are now top of the one-day global rankings.

"We showed we were capable of this a year ago against Sri Lanka and then to take the step up to beat a full England side, no 1 ranked in the world, is a massive statement from Scottish cricket".

David Willey bowled his full ten overs for the first time in ODI cricket for almost two years despite Cricviz data showing he has swung the ball less on only two previous occasions in his England career.

And it meant England would have to beat their highest winning total batting second in an ODI - 350 for three against New Zealand at Trent Bridge in 2015 - if they were to defeat Scotland in this stand-alone match.

The win came in Scotland s first match since they agonisingly just missed out on qualification for the 2019 World Cup in Zimbabwe in March.

But Scotland's bowlers kept taking wickets and when pacer Safyaan Sharif had No 11 Mark Wood plumb lbw with seven balls to spare, England were 365 all out.

"A one-off game like this, to bring your best game is very hard to do, they played well and deserved the result", said Morgan.

"I don't think we were far away, we go to a ground now that we know really well in The Oval, and we'll be up for the challenge".

Nasser Hussain and David Lloyd joined Ian Ward to preview England's five-match ODI series against an Australia side attempting to alter its public image following the ball-tampering scandal.

"Everyone just wants to listen to them talk and we can't get enough of them". That is the bigger shop window rather than personal side of it.

Scotland's first win in worldwide cricket over England came in their first match since they were cruelly denied a place at next year's World Cup after a poor umpiring decision and rain saw them miss out in their final qualifier against the West Indies in Harare in March. We didn't do enough to win.
