DEAL CLOSE: Arsenal close in on Bernd Leno signing

SportBild (h/t Sport Witness) have reported the Gunners will have to pay as much as €25 million (£22 million) to get a deal done for Leno and that "things can go quickly" on this transfer.

Arsenal are in advanced talks with Bayer Leverkusen to sign goalkeeper Bernd Leno, according to Sky sources.

As noted in the report, both Napoli and Atletico Madrid have been linked with a move for the Germany global, but Arsenal appear poised to win the race for his signature.

Adli, who is an global with France at youth level, was set to become one of new Gunners coach Unai Emery's first signings at the Emirates Stadium and even travelled to London with his agent Moussa Sissoko last weekend.

The former Chelsea goalkeeper has just one year left on his current contract.

German global Leno began his career with Stuttgart in 2009 before moving on to Leverkusen in 2011.

Leno has been once of the most consistent keepers in German football in recent years and he kept an impressive 10 clean sheets in his 33 Bundesliga appearances last season to help Leverkusen finish 5th in the table.

Arsenal supporters will be hoping that some shrewd coaching can bring the best out of these two new acquisitions.

New Arsenal manager Emery is aiming to improve the spine of his team ahead of the new season, with a goalkeeper, centre back and central midfielder his priority.

Clubs as varied as Premier League new boys Wolves and Italian champions Juventus have been mooted as potential suitors for Wilshere, who has been weighing up his future.
