Cohen likely to cooperate with federal prosecutors

The WSJ reports Cohen's attorneys had been reviewing more than 3.7 million documents seized from Cohen, ahead of a Friday deadline set by Judge Kimba Wood of the Southern District of NY.

His original attorneys, including a Washington-based partner and a New York-based partner from the large firm McDermott Will & Emery, have not yet told the judge overseeing his case in NY, where Cohen is challenging prosecutors' ability to see all the documents they seized.

Following a 9 April raid on his residences and office, Cohen has been represented by Stephen Ryan and Todd Harrison of the firm McDermott, Will & Emery LLP.

Tuesday, Gabriel Sherman of Vanity Fair reported Michael Cohen-who is under criminal investigation in NY over his business dealings-"has told friends that he expects to be arrested any day now".

Still, sources told ABC that the new developments with regard to Cohen are expected to hit the White House, family members, staffers and counsels hard.

Unconfirmed reports also said that Cohen is likely to become a witness for the prosecution in a case against President Donald Trump.

Cohen will hire a new lawyer for the next phase of the probe, the person said.

The unnamed source who spoke to the NYDN characterized Cohen as "very stressed out" about the possibility of an indictment.

Investigators seized 3.7 million records in the raid, which Cohen's defense team argued he should have the first look at. "These government tactics are also wrong because Mr. Cohen has cooperated completely with all government entities, including providing thousands of non-privileged documents to the Congress and sitting for depositions under oath", Ryan added.

"Attorney-client privilege is dead", the president tweeted.

At least one reporter has said that despite the departure of his lawyers and the whispers of cooperation with the feds, Cohen is sending a message to Trump for help.
