What Pope Francis said about Gaza killings, violence in middle

"I was 22 years old".

The Pope noted that right from the first centuries of Christianity, it became a tradition to dress those who had received the waters of Baptism in a new, white clothes to symbolise the new and transfigured life received through Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Those being baptised are also given a candle, lighted from the Easter candle, as the priest says the words, "Receive the light of Christ". He explained that is symbolized the fire of faith passing from the godparents and parents to the child. Christian education, he said, is a right of each child so that they can gradually come to know the plan of God for them. According to a statement from the Holy See Press Office, the Pope gave each of the Bishops a text with themes for meditation. This is what he said when greeting a group of retired soldiers from World War II.

Pope Francis meets with 34 Chilean bishops in Vatican City May 15 2018.

On their way back, Bishop Juan Ignacio Gonzalez, who's been named as one of the two spokesmen of the Chilean bishops during the trip, told reporters that the bishops had had the opportunity to speak, and that Barros is expected to do so this afternoon.

"We insist on the need for the Vatican to modify its discourse and- in addition to speaking about pain, forgiveness and sins- it is imperative that they recognize crimes, wrongs, and reparations and trust all the information it has to the hands of federal justice", the delegation said, some of whom identified themselves as victims of the Marist Brothers religious order. A renewed outreach, the pope said, must begin by "learning to discern where God already is present in very ordinary forms of holiness and communion with him". I repeat that using violence never brings peace.

Expressing his sorrow for those who have lost their lives, Pope Francis Wednesday called for peace and dialogue in the Middle East, which has faced increased violence during the transfer of the USA embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. "War incites war, violence incites violence".

"I invite all the parties involved and the global community to renew the commitment so that dialogue, justice and peace prevail". At the end of this plea, he prayed a Hail Mary with all the pilgrims for this intention.
