Tuesday forecast: Isolated chance of showers/storms this morning

A heavy downpour with breezy winds can't be ruled out.

Patchy fog is possible this morning as clouds and showers clear out of the area, but the rest of the day will be sunny and pleasant. While the heat sticks around through Tuesday, temperatures mellow out a bit by Wednesday.

The system has a 20 percent chance of becoming a tropical depression over the next 48 hours and a 30 percent chance over the next five days.

Fri: High: 90 Low: 70 Partly cloudy, chance for evening/night storms. Highs Monday, slightly cooler than Sunday, in the upper 60s to mid 70s.which is almost seasonable for this time of year.

The National Storm Prediction Center has outlooked all of northeast IL into Northwest Indiana for a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms Monday and Monday night (yellow-shaded area on the headlined map depicting a 15 percent chance of severe storms within 25 miles of a given location).

Wow - after a dry pattern in recent weeks, we have pivoted sharply to wet. And even more storms will arrive for the end of the week, mainly Friday night and into Saturday for most of the Plains. More tomorrow on the weekend outlook. Energy, moisture and lift will all be present Monday for scattered storms.

Wednesday will be cooler with highs in the upper 70s and mostly cloudy skies. Highs will be in the 80s. Clouds linger Monday. Expect cooler highs in the lower 80's both days.
