Steven Gerrard secures second Rangers signing

Reports from various sources have Rangers looking to sign a host of big names in the summer transfer window.

However, the Scouser is desperate to add goals to his team and will turn to a Premier League legend to bring some attacking firepower to the blue half of Glasgow.

According to sources on Merseyside, Gerrard's tight relationship with Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp will enhance the likelihood of Rangers completing the Solanke deal.

The Daily Record claims new Gers boss is keen to strengthen his strikeforce by signing former England striker Defoe on a permanent deal and Liverpool forward Solanke on loan.

Gerrard operated alongside Brazilian Lucas for eight years before the captain left Anfield in 2015, and Bournemouth striker Defoe is no stranger to the 2005 Champions League victor from their time in the England set up together over the years. With 35-year-old Defoe having two years left to run on his £65,000 per-week Bournemouth contract, Rangers are said to be interested in loan deals for the pair.

Rangers could be set for an influx of players with huge Premier League experience, if the latest rumours are to be believed.

Preliminary talks are understood to have taken place with both forwards as Gerrard attempts to build a squad which he hopes will topple Celtic's dominance at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

According to Turkish outlet Sabah, Skrtel - who played alongside Gerrard between 2008 and 2015 - has been the subject of a £4m bid from the Glasgow giants, leading him to question the Fernerbahce bosses over his situation to which they informed the 33-year-old that the decision is all his.
