Palestinian Authority recalls its ambassadors from 4 European Union countries

The US embassy move on Monday was accompanied by mass protests and clashes along the Gaza border in which Israeli forces killed about 60 Palestinians.

There has been little Israeli domestic dissent at the lethal tactics around Gaza, where in the last decade Israel has fought three wars against Hamas, a group sworn to its destruction.

"The responsibility for these tragic deaths rests squarely with Hamas", Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah said.

The ministry said Wednesday that its ambassadors to Romania, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria were being called home for consultations.

"Vietnam maintains the consistent position of supporting the just struggle of the Palestinian people and the two-State solution with the establishment of a State of Palestine that co-exists in peace with the State of Israel, along the pre-1967 border and with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine", the spokesperson said.

"We are facing a state of blatant aggression against global law and legitimacy which was embodied by the USA embassy's transfer in the occupying state to Jerusalem", said Abul Gheit.

The Palestinian Authority, which says Washington has abandoned its role as neutral arbiter in the 70-year-old conflict, withdrew its envoy from Washington.

Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended the embassy's opening on Wednesday in an office complex in west Jerusalem.

World Health Organization (WHO) spokesman Tarik Jasarevic said Israel's long-lasting blockade of the Gaza Strip has created chronic shortages for Palestinian health facilities.

In fact, Al-Zahar seemed somewhat miffed that his interviewer suggested that the Gaza protests were "peaceful". Clouds of black smoke from tires set afire by the protesters filled the sky.

Critics questioned the Israeli defense forces' conduct.

Netanyahu said on Twitter: "Every country has an obligation to defend its borders".

Israel rejects any right of return, fearing that it would deprive the state of its Jewish majority. Several Arab countries such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia enjoy strong ties with the administration of President Donald Trump.

The Israeli tank fire on the Gaza Strip came one day after the end of what the Palestinians called as "the Great March of Return" which started in March 30 and ended in May 15.

Palestinian security sources said the target was a Hamas base.

"No country in this chamber would act with more restraint than Israel has", she said. Hardly a mention was made of the border violence, only about an hour's drive away.

At least 58 Palestinians were killed yesterday, spurring the U.N.to propose investigating the IDF to determine if their actions violated global law - a proposal Haley slammed as preposterous. The U.S. Embassy inauguration took place the same day. The use of live fire against largely unarmed crowds by Israel was slammed by human rights groups as well as many Western nations, including the United Kingdom, which described it as "shocking and appalling".

The new U.S. Embassy site is an interim location operating inside the existing U.S. consulate building in Jerusalem while a search begins for a larger site.

The issue has always been seen as one of the last big items that would need to be resolved in any Israeli-Palestinian peace deal.
