Neymar, usual suspects headline Brazil World Cup squad

All four of Manchester City's main Brazilian contingent have been named in Tite's 23-man Brazil squad for this summer's World Cup.

The Selecao will meet in Brazil before facing Croatia and Austria in friendlies on June 3 and June 10. "He will start training progressively".

The Premier League is also the best-represented division in the squad as the additions of Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino and Chelsea winger Willian bring its count to six.

Alves was ruled out of the June 14-July 15 tournament last week after suffering a right anterior cruciate ligament injury in Paris Saint-Germain's 2-0 French Cup final victory over Les Herbiers. It's progressive work and next week our idea is that he starts to work with the ball and the goal is that he can be fully fit to work with [coach] Tite in his final phase, so that he can take part in the first friendly.

Tite's 23-man squad, which was without major surprises, sees Alves replaced by Danilo (Manchester City) and Fagner, whom Tite knows from his time at the helm of Corinthians' 2015 national championship-winning team.

"Coutinho can play in the middle and in the flanks, he is versatile", Tite said.

"The challenge is open on the right-back, but Danilo has some advantage now because he has performed well recently", Tite said at his hour-long news conference.

They are in a group with Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia.

The inclusion of Taison, the coach admitted, suggested Coutinho could be taking a role in central midfield and leaving his spot for Willian.
