Joe Hart to be left out of England's World Cup squad

Jack Wilshere has been left out of Gareth Southgate's England World Cup squad.

And he had been tipped to head to Russian Federation with England next month ahead of their opening World Cup fixture against Tunisia in Volgograd on June 18.

His last appearance for England was the last-16 loss to Iceland at Euro 2016 while he had to pull out of the squad for the recent friendlies with the Netherlands and Italy due to injury.

Lallana made his latest comeback in Sunday's 4-0 win over Brighton, but made just one Premier League start all season.

The BBC and Sky Sports reported on Tuesday that 75-times capped Hart won't be included among Southgate's three goalkeepers after a poor season on loan at West Ham from Manchester City.

Wilshere's absence from the 23-man party, which will be officially announced by Southgate tomorrow, means he will be forced to watch England's World Cup campaign from home.

Hart began qualification for this summer's tournament as first-choice keeper and has won 75 caps during a 10-year global career.

The 26-year-old is undoubtedly talented, but has had among the worst luck with injuries among those in the English professional game. His club-mate, James Tarkowski, is on the stand-by list, with Southgate able to call on John Stones, Harry Maguire, Phil Jones, Kyle Walker or Eric Dier at centre-half if required.

"If I was Gareth Southgate I would sell this on youngsters", Lineker said. "I've had a good season, probably shocked a few people, which has been nice", he said.

England's likely squadGoalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, Jack Butland, Nice Pope.
