Easter egg leads fans to secret Battlefield announcement

The news comes from an Easter Egg found in Battlefield 1, which saw players completing various steps to unlock a new dogtag and access to a mysterious room. Unraveling their mysteries has become something of a cottage industry among Battlefield fans (there's an active Discord, if you're interested in that sort of thing), who recently discovered the secret behind a Battlefield 1 door that's remained locked for a year.

Fans of the popular Battlefield first person shooter franchise have been anxiously awaiting to hear any information regarding the next Battlefield game and what exactly it will entail following the successful entry of Battlefield 1. After listening intently, the players were quick to realise that the leaking pipes were actually spelling out a URL in morse code which led to an official EA website which simply had the date "May 23" with #battlefield underneath it. But that wasn't the weirdest part of what all you could potentially find in-game. When using the numbers discovered via this method, players were able to solve the puzzle behind the door and were rewarded with a very special dog tag for their efforts. You can see all this detective work in the video below, by YouTuber Westie.

Inside the room is four abandoned bunks, a painting of a horse, a drain, unusual marks on the wall and two valves. The true easter egg is the ceiling pipes, with water dripping from it in morse code. It spelled out a website: "ea.com/neverbethesame".

It's a pretty ominous message, and of course this means we'll be getting some sort of announcement about the game in just a couple of weeks.
