Dragon float in Disney's Festival of Fantasy Parade catches fire

Dragon float in Disney's Festival of Fantasy Parade catches fire

The float, inspired by Walt Disney's 1959 animated classic Sleeping Beauty, depicts green-skinned dark fairy Maleficent in her purple-and-black dragon form.

Cast members shooed parade attendees away from the malfunctioning float, and a Disney employee extinguished the flames. The fire-breathing dragon that's part of Magic Kingdom's daily Festival of Fantasy parade caught aflame, Disney officials confirmed.

A handful of photos and videos posted on social media show just how insane the whole incident looked to visitors in the kingdom.

According to park visitors, the flames were put out quickly and no one seemed to be injured. Later, parts of its head piece appeared to flake off and fall to the street. No word on what will happen to the dragon float, but I hope they fix it and continue with this parade. The parade went past us and the mechanical Dragon was all good until it burst into flames! As you can see, the scene was heavily documented on social media.

The dragon, which has a steampunk-looking design, was then brought backstage with smokes still blowing out of its head. An employee is stationed inside the unit, sitting near the base of the neck.
