Did an alligator snatch a Florida teen? The search is on

It was unclear as of Wednesday afternoon, however, if an alligator was in fact involved in the incident, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Officer Chad Weber said.

Authorities in Orange County, Florida, are searching for a 15-year-old who was reportedly dragged into a local pond by an alligator on Wednesday.

Jeff Williamson, a spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Office, said deputies received a call from a witness about a man flailing his arms in the water, theOrlando Sentinel reported. According to multiple reports out of Orlando, it's possible the boy was attacked by a gator.

It has not been confirmed that a gator bit anyone, but rescue crews reported seeing what they said looked like a almost 6-foot-long gator swimming in the lake.

Authorities plan to search the pond until the teen is found or the search is called off.

WMKG-TV reports the body was found in the retention pond located in the area of Salem Drive and Marietta Street.

Video shot from a news helicopter showed at least three boats searching the retention pond.

Neighbors in the area say their lake is known to be home to multiple large gators.
