Child safe, mom arrested in Tulsa stabbing case

Cummings says he always felt his daughter was safe when she played over at Ahmad's and is still shocked that the news story rattling his town involves his neighbor.

Ahmad was booked into the Tulsa County Jail on complaints of assault and battery with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, child abuse and first-degree arson.

The 9-year-old girl was then able to go to a relative's home down the street to get help.

The 11-year-old child who was stabbed is in critical condition. The previous night, Ahmad allegedly tied her three daughters up and stuck socks in their mouths before repeatedly stabbing the 11-year-old.

Authorities stated in addition they found the kitchen was on hearth. "The way she disciplined them in the yard", he said.

Police were looking for Taheerah Ahmad and her 7-year-old daughter, and they issued the Amber alert because they believed the daughter was in danger.

Taheerah Ahmad, 39, is accused of binding and gagging her three daughters - ages 7, 9 and 11 - between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Monday at their residence in the 500 block of Mohawk Boulevard, Tulsa Police Officer Jeanne MacKenzie said.

Police imagine she could also be driving a black Lexus RX300 SUV with paper tags, a 2011 Ford Escape with Oklahoma plates or a navy blue Ford sedan.

"History, which we encountered, was that seven year old child helped 9-year-old to run away from home", he told reporters on Monday, a police spokesman.

The 11-year-old was taken to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition, according to the spokesperson, who said the child "was stabbed so many times that the officers" couldn't count the number of wounds.

Police were notified after two women spotted Ahmad's vehicle and called authorities.

The police department received a significant amount of support and engagement from the community throughout the ordeal, illustrating why the agency issues amber alerts only in dire circumstances.
