Arizona Cardinals draftee Christian Kirk arrested at Phoenix Open

Kirk, 21, who is from nearby Scottsdale and who played his college ball at Texas A&M, was arrested the night of February 3 outside the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament on charges of disorderly conduct and property damage. He and friends were allegedly throwing rocks at cars.

Wide receiver Christian Kirk was arrested in February and charged with disorderly conduct and damaging property on Feb. 3, almost three months before the Arizona Cardinals selected him with a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. This, according to a report from azcentral.com. "As they were walking through a parking lot, security personnel observed them throwing rocks at cars and breaking a window of at least one of them", the police told the newspaper.

"We were aware of this incident prior to the draft", the Cardinals said in a statement.

In post-draft press conferences, General Manager Steve Keim said the Cardinals paid special attention this year to character when drafting players.

If that's not bad enough, TMZ adds that Kirk was high on cocaine at the time of the arrest.

"We don't want a bunch of choir boys, I'm not saying that", Wilks said recently.

Wilks said he believes the matter will be resolved in a couple of months. The former Aggie standout was a five-star recruit out of Scottsdale's Saguaro High before he signed with A&M and former coach Kevin Sumlin.

The Cardinals drafted him with the No. 47 overall pick in hopes of giving their first-round pick, UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen, a reliable target for years to come.
