'American Idol': The Final Three Are Revealed

Plus Carrie Underwood took to the stage to perform her new single, "Cry Pretty" - the title track to her new album.

Carrie Underwood may look uber-glamorous every time she steps on stage, but she's proved in her latest Mother's Day message to fans that that's most definitely not always the case behind the scenes.

American Idol was full of emotion with Mother's Day Tributes.

Maddie Poppe shined bright on her rendition of "I Told You So", while Cade Foehner and Michael J. Woodard did their best during the week of Underwood.

After performances, Gabby Barrett, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, and Maddie Poppe were announced as the top three contestants. "Carrie told Gabby there is nobody in country like her and country (music industry) could use her". "He said, 'I like you just how you are.' He didn't want me to put makeup on". Barrett shared that meeting Underwood was "the holy grail" for her.

Barrett performed two songs on the show - "Last Name" by Carrie Underwood and "I Have Nothing" by Whitney Houston. Michael J. Woodard - "Still I Rise" by Yolanda Adams Both Perry and Richie told Michael he was the anointed one (hope that's not bad luck.) Bryan was brought to tears, which Katy wiped away, and Luke said he couldn't speak!

When Does American Idol Air Next? Her power worked the crowd, and the judges, just enough for Luke Bryan to even claim Barrett as "Carrie Underwood reincarnated". After Katy said she can't wait to hear Maddie's record, Luke gushed about how she's a ideal storyteller and should never over-think her performances.

Maddie closed out the show with "God Only Knows" by The Beach Boys.

The final three will face off for the last time on May 20 with the victor announced during the season's grand finale on May 21. She also implored her to keep trusting her taste in music because it is impeccable. After a buildup, host Ryan Secrest said, "The final spot goes to".

American Idol is scheduled to return for part one of its finale May 20 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. "We loved that you got choked up at your own emotional scene".
