Actress' unborn baby dies after Park Slope crash

Broadway actress Ruthie Ann Miles' 4-year-old daughter Abigail Blumenstein was killed when a driver allegedly suffered a medical condition, lost control of her auto and sped through a crowded crosswalk. She was due to deliver a baby girl later this month with her husband, Jonathan Blumenstein, according to media reports.

"At the time of the crash Ruthie was pregnant and was severely injured", said Miles' lawyer Ben Rubinowitz. Blumenstein, who was critically injured in the crash, lost her child on Friday. But shortly after the collision, Miles's family said her unborn baby survived the ordeal in a statement released via social media.

The heartbreaking crash happened when Ruthie and her friend Lauren Lew were walking back from a church event with their two children - when a woman in a white Volvo allegedly ran a red light. "The pain suffered by Ruthie and Jonathan is almost impossible to fathom", said lawyer Ben Rubinowitz.

Blumenstein's 4-year-old daughter, Abigail, and Lew's 1-year-old son, Joshua, were killed, and Blumenstein was seriously injured. Bruns was indicted earlier this month.

Dorothy Burns, the driver of the vehicle, plead not guilty to several charges including manslaughter. "She should never have been allowed to be driving a auto after what we know". "As you might imagine, they are overwhelmed by the sadness of the deaths of their children". Rubinowitz confirmed she was 39 weeks pregnant when she lost her baby Friday.

The Staten Island resident told emergency responders after the crash that she had suffered a seizure, which caused her to accelerate through the red light.
