Vincent and Kompany toast City's EPL title

Vincent and Kompany toast City's EPL title

City were confirmed as champions on Sunday, with five games still to go, when their closest challengers Manchester United were surprisingly beaten 1-0 at home by bottom side West Brom.

It is the third time in seven seasons City have won the title, and the first in Pep Guardiola's reign.

Vincent Kompany is recalled to the Manchester City starting lineup for Saturday's Premier League encounter against Tottenham Hotspur.

He called on team-mates to do what they were unable to after their previous two titles, and retain... "I'm privileged to be part of such a great group, great players, good guys, good mentality, good atmosphere in the team, every single time I'm on the pitch I enjoy it".

Word quickly got around through social media and City fans queued outside a venue still advertising United's televised clash with the Baggies in a bid to join fellow supporters inside, where the players were seen belting out Oasis' Wonderwall and being serenaded by supporters expressing their delight and gratitude. "I'm proud of everyone involved".

As for Spurs, boss Mauricio Pochettino has made a total of four alterations to his team, with the most notable switch seeing Erik Lamela replace Son Heung-min.

"I may be the first one that's already thinking about next season but I want to stay humble".

"Any player under him has had success because of him and how they've improved as individuals".

'We all believed in it, otherwise it wouldn't happen, ' Kompany said. Filmed in his in-laws' home watching and reacting to City's title win, giving an interview to the press... and tonight, hanging out with John Stones, Bernardo Silva, Kyle Walker and Fabian Delph in a Manchester pub! There was a period of adaptation for him coming into the league and for us taking in his methods.

"I think we share one thing maybe, the hunger and desire to never be satisfied", said Kompany.

"It shows how football is lived in Manchester as we have Reds in the family and Blues but today was a day for the Blues".

"I had a feeling when I woke up this morning". "I don't like to wait for a team to lose, so it was a different kind of experience today".
