Top Iranian Khamenei adviser in Ghouta with Assad military official

Following Israeli strikes on Iranian bases in Syria and heated rhetoric, a senior advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei threatened a military escalation, stating that if tensions between Israel and Iran would continue to rise, Iran would, in turn, destroy Tel Aviv and Haifa.

Israel has refused to comment on the attack, for which it has been blamed by Iran, Russia and Syria. "Iran can destroy Israel."The Quds Force is the espionage and paramilitary wing, in charge of overseas operations, of the elite Revolutionary Guards".

The rhetorical back-and-forth between Israel and Iran was sparked by a bombing of the T-4 military base in Syria, where at least seven Iranian military personnel were killed.

"Assad's regime will disappear from the map and the world if the Iranians attack Israel from Syrian territory", they added.

On Tuesday, an Iranian official said the airstrike would "not remain without a response", according to Lebanese news channel Al Mayadeen.

A day earlier, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman vowed that Israel would do whatever necessary to prevent Iran from establishing a permanent military foothold in Syria.

About Iran's global relations, the first vice-president said Tehran is after dialogue and willing to have good interactions with the outside world. "In truth, our voice was not heard at all".

Also on Wednesday, responding the the escalating threats between Israel and Iran, Russian President Vladimir Putin asked Netanyahu to avoid any steps that could increase instability in Syria.
