Shenmue I & II Coming To The PlayStation 4, Xbox One And PC

SEGA has just announced that the first Shenmue games, Shenmue 1 and 2, will be officially coming to the PC in 2018 in one package.

London, England - April 13, 2018 - SEGA® Europe Ltd.is proud to announce that the pioneering epic saga Shenmue™ I & II is to be re-released for a new generation. The compilation comes with a host of modern features, including "fully scalable screen resolution, choice of modern or classic control schemes, PC graphics options, an updated user interface, and the option to enjoy either the original Japanese or English voiceovers".

The original Shenmue launched on the Sega Dreamcast in 2000 while the sequel launched in 2002. The original Shenmue was one of the best titles to see release on Sega's Dreamcast system, ranking at the time as the most expensive video game ever made and offering up a gaming experience that felt very different from anything that had come before it.

The first game in the series, Shenmue begins the tale as Ryo travels around Yokosuka, Japan, gathering clues about his father's murder and dealing with nefarious gangsters along the way.

We'll keep an eye out for any updates. Truly barmy. If you'd told us five years ago that we'd be able to play a full Shenmue trilogy on the PS4, we'd have not-so subtly laughed in your face. Both games are set in real-time open worlds with weather changes and day-and-night cycles.
