Man City wins Premier League after United loses to West Brom

United had to at least draw to keep the title race mathematically alive but were stunned at Old Trafford when Jay Rodriguez headed home after the break.

After it failed to clinch the title at home last weekend, when it lost 3-2 to United, City bounced back on Saturday, spanking Tottenham 3-1 in a dominant display at the Wembley Stadium.

Juan Mata believes Manchester United still have lots to play for this season after Man City's Premier League title win was confirmed in the most disappointing of circumstances on Sunday.

The Spain global told MUTV in the wake of a disappointing home reversal against West Brom which gifted the Premier League crown to City: "Second position was not done before the game".

It wasn't exactly the way Manchester City envisioned it happening but thanks to an unlikely ally, they have won the 2017-18 Premier League title. Mourinho has not delivered the Premier League title in his second season in charge, and the failure to progress to the FA Cup final is likely to increase the negativity around the Portuguese's managerial position.

"Eight titles. Three Premier League", said Mourinho when asked if United will challenge City next season. Everyone was one more touch, one more trick, one more flick, one more turn'.

"As much as this has been a record breaking season, this one's for you, the fans, this is why we do it!" said the skipper.

"The amount of goals (93), chances, points, to do that in the Premier League with the contenders that we have, it is because the players are so, so good". Maybe also City will invest massively and they don't let the others close the gap to them, I don't know. You can win the Champions League in seven games; the league is 10 months.

They been a class above during this campaign, and have won the title with a massive 16-point lead over second placed United.

Henry, who implored him to emulate his City performance on a more consistent basis, said that such displays prove he can not.

Not only that, he did it with five games remaining, equalling the English top-flight record of United (1907-08 and 2000-01) and Everton (1984-85).

Right-back Kyle Walker, who joined Man City last summer, said: "We did it!"
