Kerala: Newborn baby girl flushed down the toilet, plumbers stumble upon body

According to the reports, the shocking incident came into light after the Clinic's owner Doctor Abdul Rahman called in plumbers to unclog the pipes passage after he noticed some kind of blockage in the toilet, Mirror Now reports.

The body of a two-day-old baby which was flushed down a toilet was recovered in Kerala's Palakkad, according to several media reports. On Friday morning, Dr Abdul Rehman - who runs the clinic next to his house - noticed obstruction in the toilet bowl and called the plumber.

"There wasn't much of a foul smell emanating from the toilet", a sub-inspector of the Nattukal Police Station told The NewsMinute. The body of the newborn, her placenta still attached, was stuck in the duct. They were left shocked after discovering that it was the body of an infant.

The police also added that the matter is being investigated and the records of all the patients are being checked. It is, reportedly, being suspected that her parents came to the clinic on the pretext of consultation and flushed the baby. On the basis of Dr Rehman's complaint, the police have registered a case of unnatural death. However, as the placenta was intact with the baby, the mother could have delivered her inside the washroom and made a decision to dump her in the commode, said cops.

The officials have sent the body of the baby girl to nearby Thrissur medical college for the post-mortem procedure.
