Israel probes video appearing to show sniper shooting Palestinian

A Palestinian man shot in the Gaza strip by an Israeli sniper amid whoops of delight has given his side of the story.

The targeted site in the northern Gaza Strip was affiliated with the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of resistance movement Hamas.

Israel has rejected the calls, saying its forces have opened fire to stop attempts to damage the fence, infiltrations, bids to carry out attacks and at those seeking to harm soldiers.

Earlier on Thursday, Mohammed Abu Hajeela, 31, was killed in an Israeli air strike and succumbed to his wounds in Gaza's al-Shifa hospital.

With hundreds around him chanting, "We are going to Jerusalem, millions of martyrs", and with 20,000 Palestinians protesting along the border - some burning tires, others throwing Molotov cocktails and rocks - Yahya Sinwar declared during April protests that Hamas was "following in the path of martyr Yasser Arafat in resisting the enemy" and "if we explode we will explode in [Israel's] face".

Yaser Murtaja, the co-founder of Ain Media, was shot as he filmed protests at the border fence on Friday. That's a logical impossibility: Israeli forces can not "fire back" at people who aren't firing at them.

The strike was in response to an explosive device that was detonated against an Israeli army engineering vehicle, according to the Israel Defense Forces. Reports were from a military spokesperson, who said that "immediately after the airstrike, a terrorist cell used machine guns to shoot at one of the aircraft but did not hit it". "I was yelling to friends near the fence to leave and go back to our homes", he told AFP at his home in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

A soldier then opens fire on one of the Palestinians, knocking the person to the ground.

It said Tuesday an initial probe shows the video was taken in December during "violent riots".

Palestinian protesters chant slogans next to a wall of smoke from burning tires created to obstruct the view of the IDF who are trying to defend the border. "What a video! Look they're running to evacuate him", he later adds, "What a legendary video".

At least 32 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed by Israeli forces since March 30.

"He was hit in the leg and injured".

Palestinian health authorities say nearly 1,300 folks are taken and wounded by Israeli soldiers during the mass boundary protests, known due to the land Hamas rulers.

These headlines, as Johnson says of the term "clashes", "obscure...power dynamics and the nature of the conflict itself", occluding the colonial character of the Israeli project and the Palestinians' right to struggle for liberation.

The Washington Post also reported that Hamas encouraged Palestinians to attend the protests on the Gaza border.
