Former UCLA LB Eric Kendricks signs five-year, $50M extension with Vikings

Monday marks the first official day of spring practice for the Minnesota Vikings, which is good news.

The next major move that should come for the Vikings is re-signing linebacker Anthony Barr to an extension as he is set to play out the fifth-year option of his rookie deal that is worth $12.3 million. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Kendricks is signing a five-year, $50 million extension with the Vikings.

The deal comes with $25 million in guarantees. Kendricks was selected in the 2nd round (45th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft and went on to receive All-Rookie honors that season.

Kendricks, 26, had 113 total tackles this past season, helping the Vikings defense become a dominant unit. In addition to the 367 tackles he's made during that span, Kendricks has added 7.5 sacks, 30 tackles for loss, two interceptions (both returned for touchdowns), 16 pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. With Kendricks in place, it ensures that a major part o their defense is in place for the next several seasons. In 2017, the Fresno, California native tallied a career-high 136 (87 solo) total tackles and tied a career-high of 13 tackles vs. Cleveland (10/29/17).
