Emergency crews respond to plane crash in Crozet; injuries unknown

Multiple emergency crews are responding to a small plane crash in western Albemarle County near Crozet.

Officials in Parmer County are investigating a fatal plane crash eight miles west of Friona.

She also said the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have been alerted about the incident.

One person is dead after a small, private airplane crashed into the mountainside northwest of Crozet on Sunday night.

Around 10:43 p.m., 911 was called to report the plane missing.

Authorities located the downed aircraft around 1:00 a.m. Monday.

Local law enforcement agents tell the FAA that two fatalities have been reported in the crash.

The DPS identified the victims as Clayton Sides, 25, of Dimmitt and Thomas Jacob Hefner, 25 of Bovina. We will update the story as more information becomes available.
