CHAMPIONS: West Brom Stun United To Hand EPL Title To Man City

Manchester City today clinched the Premier League title with five games remaining, and they didn't even have to kick a ball to do it as neighbours United handed them the trophy with a surprise home defeat to West Brom.

United had denied City the chance to wrap up the title last weekend when they came from two goals down to beat their bitter rivals 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium. West Brom, the last place team who is bound for relegation, got some late season happiness by beating Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford.

West Brom had a let-off in the first half when the referee, Paul Tierney, gave Craig Dawson the benefit of the doubt for a penalty-box challenge that put Ander Herrera on the floor.

United have 71 also with five to play.

Ritchie scored the victor against Manchester United on February 11 that kickstarted Newcastle's surge to safety and he did the same here, running onto Perez's flick off Islam Slimani's header to beat Petr Cech from 12 meters (yards).

"Congratulations to Manchester City, who are mathematically the Premier League winners".

"Today's game, we've got a vital three points for us and it means so much for the football club as it does all the players".

"I saw lots of people in the moon because we won against City".

And perhaps one image from the game symbolises why the West Brom board would be mad to press ahead with their plans to snub Moore and look elsewhere. Now they were wandering around like zombies, drenched in a Mancunian downpour, losing against the worst team in the league.

Mourinho was asked whether he took off Pogba because he had a yellow card and was at risk of getting sent off.

It wasn't exactly the way Manchester City envisioned it happening but thanks to an unlikely ally, they have won the 2017-18 Premier League title.

United dominated possession early on, but despite the efforts of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, precious little real impact was made by the home side.

City were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday after their quarter-final defeat by Liverpool, and were beaten by League one side Wigan in the fifth round of the FA Cup in February.

"I hope that we can have a happier Monday in seven days". It is even more important for the next games and we know we have to compete until the last week. You win, of course, with quality, but with consistency in every level, not just the performance level but also the mental level.
